We said goodbye to our families and traveled to
Darkhan. We had sessions ALL DAY and
anxiously waited till the time when we would find out our site placements! 4
o’clock came and sessions ending, we all walking to the children’s park where
there was a big map of Mongolia on the ground and a park map of Mongolia. Signs with stars indicating soum’s and aimag’s,
and gave the PCV’s a good notion of where they would be in regards to their
peers. The called PCV’s one by one,
stating where they would be going…first some of the Tefles, next the Health volunteers…FINALLY, CYD..I
was like a child on Christmas waiting to open a gigantic package…Jake, Hannah,
Angela, Cal, Scott, Shane; finally ME!!! As I was escorted to my Aimag location
on the map, I couldn’t wait to read the packet of information they gave us on
the site. I couldn’t believe it when I read that Arkhangai had a Buddhist
temple, a lake and river where you could
fish, as well as an extinct volcano and hot springs. I became further excited when everyone had
been placed and everyone started to Mull around, and current volunteers
(M-23’s) as well as my training director stated that my aimag was the most
beautiful in Mongolia! My aimag is Arkhangai and the capital (where I will be
staying) is Tstserleg! I could not believe how I lucked out in this placement.
Not only was I able to get an incredibly beautiful placement but I also get to
live in a Ger….when in Mongolia……
