This past weekend two of my site mates and I went to the hot springs. It was amazing! We opted to take a car there, even though biking it the 27 kilometers did have it's appeal. Quickly, we realized we had made the right choice. The terrain was incredibly rough and it was hard to decipher the road from the land itself. It took an hour to get there and back. When we did finally get there, we immediately looked for a place to set up camp. Will, our fearless leader, had to find a place with a view and it seemed like the trees that were up the steep incline behind the hot spring resort would not yield this need. But, Brittany and I followed. Trekking up the steep incline, we heard Will call out and followed him to the top of the hilly mountain. Not only did it open up at the top, but for miles you could see mountains, and oranges and reds of color. It was beautiful. After we set up camp, complete with firewood, and successfully rested, we went back down the mountain to go into the resort's hot spring pools. They were beautifully made with stone and were crystal clear, as they replenish the water at least twice a day. We were in heaven! When it was time to go back up the treacherous incline, we were beat. Some mac and cheese, a fire and a few drinks later, it became abundantly clear that this was a trip we would need to make when the resort opens in the spring!
Noted:
The hot springs at the resorts around this area are fed from a natural hot spring that comes out of the ground only a hot skip and a jump away. From where we camped, you could go down the other side of the mountain and see the source. The water is incredibly hot, and by cyphering it through the pipes, the local resorts are able to cool it enough for people to enjoy. Pictures are coming soon!
