Desperate for a CHaNgE, and new OppOrtUniTieS!

A year and a half ago, I started on a journey of exploration and change. Needing a break in a big way from the bustle of the city, the drama that engulfed my life and a dissapointing Graduate Program that in fact did NOT have the right accreditation. Despite my 4.0 GPA; I decided to make some significant adjustments. I signed up for the Peace Corps, packed my bags and moved across country from Boston to Texas with no particular plan in mind.  Luckily for me, my partner in crime and best friend of 11 years (Jessy Brinkley), was ready for a change as well; cats in tow (howling) we made the long drive to San Marcos, where our new luxury apartment would be waiting for us. Our apartment was heaven. Amazing neighbors, a beautiful (I repeat beautiful) resort style pool, and a porch where you could see the sunset. I made a couple good friends, and enjoyed an amazing summer. On the jobfront...it was stress. Driving into Austin everyday was not my idea of a change from the traffic of Boston.

Six months later, our lease was up. Jessy's job moved us to San Angelo.  I decided this time, I would find a fun, carefree, close job; bartending seemed suiting.  I started bartending at Midnight Rodeo, a western club with the best dancefloor in San Angelo, and met a lot of great friends. Soon after, I received an invitation to join the Peace Corps in Mongolia. At the time, what did I know about Mongolia? Not a damn thing.  Did I except?  That afternoon! As of current, I have about a month and a week before I begin a two year experience of a lifetime.

In a week, I will be done with work. I'll spend another two weeks in NY with my family, and take a quick trip to Boston to see my friends. I'll come back to Texas to pack up, spending the last bit of time with my friends here as well as my cats Pepper and Cali and more importantly, Jessy; who has become someone I can love and count on in any situation.

While I feel like I have been waiting forever to leave, I am realizing that these last couple months have been flying by. As one door is closing (for now) and another opens, I find myself excited and nervous for what's to come.

In this blog, I will be updating those I care about in the travels and experiences I have in Mongolia, the next couple of years. Life is an adventure! I cannot wait to share my adventures with you!
